Winter 2009 Corec & Girls’ Youth Basketball League
Winter Early Bird Fees: Early bird fees are in effect until Nov. 27. After Nov. 27 fees increase.
The Wheaton Park District Youth Basketball League emphasizes skill, tactics, sportsmanship and fun…plus it’s a great way to stay physically active. Everyone is guaranteed a chance to play at least one quarter of each game. The first two weeks are set aside for practice. No team meets more than twice a week for practice and games. Players are contacted by coaches after the coaches meeting in mid-January. All players must wear gym shoes; all participants receive team T-shirts. Anyone interested in assisting as a coach or an official may contact the park district at 630.690.4880.
Practice times are set according to the volunteer coaches’ schedules and facility availability. Game times may vary. League play is held on Saturdays. Practices are held at various elementary and middle schools. Special requests are not accepted for basketball leagues.
All participants must preregister including those whose parents are volunteer coaches. Register early as grades fill quickly. Please see complete information on basketball registration in the back section of this catalog. Please state volunteer coaching interest, child’s height and any unique situations on the Youth Athletic Program Information form. The school a child attends, or his or her address has no bearing on practice sites or team placement. Register by the grade in which the child is currently enrolled.

Winter 2009 Corec PeeWee Basketball League
This league emphasizes skills, fundamentals, sportsmanship and fun where participants play on eight-foot high baskets and use a smaller size ball. Everyone is guaranteed a chance to play at least two quarters of each game. The first two weeks of the season are set aside for practice only. Starting on the third week, teams practice for the first half-hour then play a game the last 45 minutes. All players must wear gym shoes; participants receive team T-shirts. Practice/game times may vary but are either 5, 6:15 or 7:30 pm on Friday evenings at the Community Center. Special requests are not accepted for basketball leagues. Coaches contact players after the coaches meeting at the beginning of January. Each team rosters up to 10 players.
