Awesome August
End of the summer doldrums? Awesome August offers a variety of activities from canoeing to arts and crafts, special events, local field trips, sports and swimming. Please bring a sack lunch and beverage daily. Sign up for one, two or all three sessions. All campers must pass a swim test to swim in the deep end of the pool. (MR)

Awesome August II
More Awesome August–swim at Northside, try archery lessons, learn to
canoe, play games and do crafts. End the week with a Friday trip to Lincoln
Park Zoo! Bring a lunch, drink and swimsuit daily. All canoeing and archery
activities take place, weather permitting. Campers must pass a swim test
in order to swim in the deep end of the pool. Campers must be entering
grades 1-5 in the fall of 2012. (MR)

Safety City -- Celebrating 10 Years!
Safety City provides early childhood education on basic safety messages.
Hands-on instruction includes games, crafts, music, stories, videos, crafts
and role-playing. Children practice and experience “real life” situations to
help them acquire safe habits. Safety City curriculum includes pedestrian
safety, passenger safety, at-home safety, fire prevention, playground safety
and “Stranger Danger.” Each session provides time to practice safe
behaviors on the Safety City outdoor layout which includes buildings,
sidewalks, crosswalks and traffic signals. The session ends with an open
house for friends and families. Every child receives a certificate of
completion. Students must bring a bicycle helmet to every class. Also,
please bring a lunch and beverage every day. Students are encouraged to
repeat the class. (MR)

Safety City Open Road (weather permitting)
Safety City is open to the public and supervised by a qualified staff.
• Youngsters with tricycles and helmets can ride safely free of charge.
• Tricycles are available to rent for $5.
• Two-wheel bikes, rollerblades and skateboards are not welcome.
• All participants must bring their own helmet or come out and walk.
• Only three-wheeled bikes – no scooters or training wheels.
• Families and siblings are welcome to attend open road nights.
