Community Paper Recycling Program
WPD hosts a community paper recycling program called the Paper Retriever. Bring your paper recycling to the large yellow and green bin in the Community Center parking lot. You will be supporting our environmental stewardship efforts and well as raising funds to contribute to “greening” our park district.
If you can’t re-use it, recycle it!
We are required to recycle 2 tons of paper per month to participate in the program. The paper collected by this program is recycled to manufacture newsprint.
The Paper Retriever accepts the following:
- Old park district brochures
- Newspaper
- Magazines
- Catalogs
- Junk Mail
- Office Paper
- Notebooks (spiral-bound notebooks do not need the metal spiral removed)
- Soft Cover Books
- Hard Cover Books (with covers removed)
- Bagged shredded paper (bags will be removed by the Paper Retriever recycler)
Please do NOT include:
- Plastic
- Glass
- Metal
- Trash
- Cardboard
- Phone Books
By recycling just one ton of paper you help our planet by using less of the following resources:
- 4,102 kwh Electricity
- 60 lbs Air Pollution
- 7,000 gallons of Water
