Volunteer Opportunities for Adults
Cosley Zoo offers volunteer opportunities for individuals who are at least 16 years of age. Younger volunteers (7th-12th grade) can visit our Junior Zookeeper page to find out how they can get involved.

Education
Education volunteers help motivate visitors to appreciate the earth and its wildlife, and to conserve its resources through teaching, answering questions and explaining exhibits. Training is provided. Individuals must have good oral communication skills, be enthusiastic and interested in meeting and working with many types of people. Hours and days are flexible. Must be 18 years of age or older.

Animal Care
Animal Care volunteers work directly with the zookeepers to perform routine feeding, cleaning and general husbandry for domestic and wild animals. Training is provided . Individuals must be able to stand, climb, stoop and bend for extended periods of time as well as carry up to 50 pounds. A minimum of one 4-hour shift a week is required. Must be 18 years of age or older.

Guest Services
Guest Services volunteers ensure a positive experience for Cosley Zoo's visitors by sharing zoo information, assisting with special events, and collecting visitor data. Training is provided. Applicants should be enthusiastic, people-oriented, and outgoing. Hours and days are flexible. Upon receipt of a volunteer application, arrangements will be made for an interview. Must be 16 years of age or older.

Fee
Volunteers pay a $20 fee on their first day. This fee covers the cost of their handbook, shirt, and background check. Need-based scholarships are available.
