Photo of the Month Contest
This year’s Photo of the Month Contest will begin in November 2009 and run through September 2010. Each month, there will be a different theme/criteria (see below) for the photographs submitted. Details for submitting photos are as follows:
- All photos will be judged on the theme for that month, originality and creativity.
- All photos must be received by the 15th of the previous month to be considered for that month’s judging.
- All pictures must be submitted in JPEG format to cosleyphotos@wheatonparks.org and can be no larger than 3 megabytes. Sorry, no printed photos may be accepted.

How the Contest Works:
Each month, the top three photos will be chosen and displayed on Cosley Zoo’s web site. The Best Photo of the Month will receive a free 7” plush animal of your choice from the Wild Side Gift Shop (value $9.95). In October 2010, the best photo will be chosen from among the monthly first place winners. This winning photo will be displayed in the gift shop through January 1, 2011. This winner receives a full hour and a half sitting with Molly Grace (a $225 value) at a location of your choice. This session will also include the digital negatives and copyrights for you to use as you see fit. (a $500 value)
The monthly theme/criteria are as follows:
November 2009 - The photograph should represent Thankfulness and Abundance of Nature that is present throughout Cosley Zoo at this time of year.
December 2009 - The photograph should represent The Magic of Christmas! The Festival of Lights and the comfort and love of family and friends are perfect subjects.
January 2010 - The photograph should represent Your Inspiration for the New Year. Think of new places to go at Cosley Zoo that you haven't been to yet and be inspired!
February 2010 - The photograph should represent Your Appreciation of Affection, Friendship and Partnership at Cosley Zoo. Look at the animals and how they show love.
March 2010 - The photograph should represent The Many Shades of the Color Green. Even though winter is still around us, this is the month we celebrate St. Patrick’s Day and Spring’s arrival!
April 2010 - The photograph should represent Growth and Life! We celebrate Easter and new bud's appear, what a great opportunity to photograph a baby animal!
May 2010 - The photograph should represent Weather. We have a lot of storms and rain during this month that bring fantastic colors in the sky and puddles for reflection.
June 2010 - The photograph should represent An Event at Cosley Zoo. Visit the calendar of events and join in! You may be missing some very important opportunities to photograph.
July 2010 - The photograph should represent The Spirit of Summer! This time of year we picnic and celebrate the warmth of days and nights. Some animals enjoy this time of year too!
August 2010 - The photograph should represent Your Appreciation of Wildlife Conservation. The keepers and volunteers are taking care of Cosley Zoo's animals every day. We love their support!
September 2010 - The photograph should represent The Calm of the Season. We are back at school and activities are in full swing. Observe Cosley Zoo and visitors during peaceful moments.
