What's New?

"Quack, Quack!"

Over the summer, Cosley Zoo welcomed some new ducks to the pond. Two of the more noticeable additions are the Muscovy and the Black Swedish Ducks. The two male Muscovy Ducks can be distinguished by the red “mask” they wear. These masks, known as caruncles, are much larger on males than in females. The Black Swedish Ducks are a color variation of the Blue Swedish Ducks already residing at Cosley.
See if you can find all 7 of them during your next visit!

Welcome Jupiter!

In August, Cosley Zoo welcomed another new animal. His name is Lupke’s ADs Jupiter, Jupiter for short. Jupiter is our new American Cream Draft horse that was acquired as a replacement for June, who passed away this past July. Ironically, Jupiter is a half brother to June! Jupiter arrived at Cosley Zoo Friday, August 28

Jupiter is only two years old and possesses the look of a gangly teenager. Over the next 3 years, Jupiter will grow 2-3 inches taller and put on several hundred pounds.

Like all youngsters, Jupiter has a lot to learn. The staff will be spending time teaching him the ins and outs of life at Cosley Zoo. While he may be inexperienced, since his arrival, Jupiter has shown that he has a gentle and quiet nature.

When you get a chance, please stop by and meet Jupiter.

Watch for more exciting new additions within the next few months!
