Cross country skiing is an economical winter sport for all ages which provides hours of fun and exercise. This low impact sport offers the health benefits of aerobic exercise and assists in burning calories and building muscles.
The Arrowhead Golf Club offers groomed trails which you may enter or exit the Herrick Lake Forest Preserve. The course will be open when the ground is frozen and there is a 6" base of snow on the course. To inquire about ski equipment and updates on ski conditions and availability, please call:

Look for the flags on the west side of the Arrowhead facility. Green indicates skiing is available for that day. Red indicates that conditions are not sufficient for skiing.
Arrowhead is open for cross-country skiing during the following hours:
9am to dusk, Monday-Friday
8am to dusk, Saturday and Sunday

A security deposit is required to rent skis – credit card, driver’s license, student ID or car keys. School age group rates are available on school days only. For six or more people the fee is $7 for two hours.
