Blanchard St. Directions: Map this location Description: Opened on Memorial Day weekend in 1989, Rice Pool & Water Park quickly became "the" place to be in Wheaton in the summer. With water attractions for every taste, creative play areas, perfect spots for sunning and excellent food concessions, Wheaton's only water park attracts all ages. Especially popular is the 'Battle of the Middle Schools" which each year pits teams from Wheaton in a variety of exciting water events. The annual "SuperSummer Splash Bash" features sandcastle building, Flick-n-Float movie nights, and an end-of-summer back-to-school dance.The Community Center, adjacent to Rice Pool & Water Park, is a hub of park district activity. The lower level houses a pottery room, the Parks Plus Fitness Center, and a matted activity room. The first floor provides a theatre/group activity room filled with full size stage and theatre type seating, preschool rooms with child size furnishings, a well equipped training kitchen, a baby-sitting room, and a gymnasium with a full size basketball court, room for two half-court basketball games and three volleyball courts. Men's and women's locker rooms are on the first floor, and feature showers, lockers, sauna, whirlpool and dressing rooms. The second floor contains an art room, several multi-purpose rooms, dance/aerobic studios, and a running track with three lanes, one for walking.
