Volunteer with the Wheaton Park District and not only will you impact someone else's life, you'll benefit as well. Volunteering can give you work experience, skill development, on-site training as well as basic accident and liability insurance. Personalize your volunteer selection by choosing indoor or outdoor work, attending social events, and best of all, the schedule is flexible! Volunteers receive a volunteer staff shirt or pin and our monthly volunteer newsletter.

Cosley Zoo - Animal Care
If you are looking for a rewarding hands-on experience full of learning, hard work and lots of dirt, then you may be interested in being an animal care volunteer at Cosley Zoo. To apply, you must be a minimum of 18 years old and complete a volunteer application. Upon receipt of a complete application, arrangements will be made for an interview. Volunteers work side-by-side with the animal keepers so no previous experience with animals is necessary. Must be 18 years of age or older.

Cosley Zoo - Education
Do you enjoy talking to people? Are you interested in animals? The education department at Cosley Zoo is seeking dedicated individuals to become a part of our team. Education volunteers interact with zoo visitors sharing animal information as well as the mission of the Cosley Zoo, training is provided. To apply, volunteers must be 18 years or older and complete a volunteer application. Upon receipt of a complete application, arrangements will be made for an interview. Must be 18 years of age or older.

Cosley Zoo - Guest Services
Guest Services volunteers ensure a positive experience for Cosley Zoo's visitors by sharing zoo information, assisting with special events, and collecting visitor data. Training is provided. Applicants should be enthusiastic, people-oriented, and outgoing. Hours and days are flexible. Upon receipt of a volunteer application, arrangements will be made for an interview. Must be 16 years of age or older.

Lincoln Marsh - Nature Interpretation & Environmental Education
If you are interested in environmental education, then look no further for a meaningful volunteer experience. Assist with, create or teach school programs, special events, craft classes, night hikes and more.

Recreation
The possibilities of a recreation volunteer are many…assist with, create or teach craft classes, cooking classes or performing arts. If you love sports, we have a spot for you as a coach or referee for league sports including soccer, baseball, football, softball and basketball. To apply you must be a minimum of 16 years old.
