Location: Lincoln Marsh Natural Area, corner of Pierce and Harrison Ave, Wheaton, IL 60187
Job Summary: This position is responsible for facilitating experiential team building and adventure programs with various groups at the Lincoln Marsh Natural Area and traveling programs at offsite locations. A part-time position.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in outdoor education, recreation, or equivalent combination of training, certification, and/or experience in team building and outdoor adventure programs.
- Ability to present to groups of various ages
- Strong Communications skills required, enthusiasm, reliability, ability to take initiative and flexible schedule required.
- Must have a valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
- Must meet the requirements for certification and recertification as a Wheaton park District Teams Course Facilitator.
- CPR/First Aid certification required.
Requirements for Certification:
- Complete Lincoln Marsh Teams Course Facilitator Training and/or Recertification Workshop.
- Observe at least two Teams Course experiences with a certified facilitator.
- Co-facilitate at least two Teams Course experiences with a certified facilitator.
- Facilitate at least two Teams Course experiences while observed by a certified facilitator.
- Must hold a current First Aid/CPR certificate.
Requirements for Re-Certification:
- Attend annual re-certification workshop.
- Facilitate a minimum of five courses per year.
- Must co-facilitate at least two Teams Course experiences with a certified facilitator.
- Must hold a current First Aid/CPR certificate.
Essential Functions:
- Adhere to the standards and procedures as listed in the Lincoln Marsh Teams Course Facilitator Manual.
- Design an appropriate team building course sequence for groups, according to their goals and abilities.
- Responsible for safe-guarding the emotional and physical well being of participants.
- Complete required pre and post course documents.
- Display knowledge of safety protocol and technical information related to all initiatives.
- Responsible for the physical setup and takedown of teams course initiatives.
- Must be able to maintain a safe, challenging, and fun atmosphere for participants.
- Must be able to travel to program sites and/or institutions.
- Follow, administer, and implement Wheaton Park District policies and guidelines.
Salary:
$14-$15 per hour
Hours:
5- 15 hours week, 7 days a week
Varies based on program schedule
(usually during normal business hours)
Deadline: Open until filled, training begins at the end of February
