Location: Lincoln Marsh Natural Area, 1010 West Madison, Wheaton, IL 60187
Job Summary: This position is responsible for the preparation, presentation, and evaluation of interpretive and educational programs at the Lincoln Marsh Natural Area and traveling outreach programs. This is a part-time position.
Qualifications:
- Substantial progress towards a bachelor’s degree in environmental education or life sciences preferred, or an equivalent combination of training, certification, and experience in environmental interpretation.
- Knowledge of nature-related activities and crafts recommended.
- Experience working with children in both classroom and outdoor settings is preferred.
- Ability to present to groups of various ages and handle captive educational animals.
- Enthusiasm, reliability, and an ability to take initiative required.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule.
- First aid/CPR certification is required.
Essential Duties:
- Present interpretive and educational programs to school groups, scout groups, the public, and summer camps.
- Assist in the preparation and development of interpretive programs, including preschools, scout and school groups, summer camps, and outreach.
- Organize, implement, and evaluate nature summer camps.
- Assure safety of program participants at all times.
- Ability to travel to program sites at various institutions.
- Able to transport and safely care for captive educational animals.
- Must follow, administer, and implement Wheaton Park District policies and guidelines.
Salary:
$9 - $10.50 per hr
Hours:
0-30 hours per week,
depending on program schedule
M-F, some Saturdays, & Friday
& Saturday nights
