Cosley Zoo Camp Counselor (Seasonal)

Location:  Cosley Zoo, 1356 N. Gary Avenue, Wheaton, IL 60187

Job Summary:  This position is responsible for the organization, instruction, and evaluation of camp programs designed for age 4-15.  Some instruction is in the classroom, much is engaged learning through hands-on activities involving the animals at Cosley Zoo.  This is a seasonal summer position.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of two years college preferred in the field of science education, animal husbandry, or two years experience in outdoor education.
  • Animal handling experience a plus.
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.

Essential Duties:

  • Organize, instruct, and evaluate all aspects of daily camp activities.
  • Supervise program participants.
  • Enforce rules and regulations with the participants.
  • Purchase and maintain an inventory of supplies.
  • Maintain daily attendance records.
  • Participate in planned activities.
  • Assure safety for participants at all times.
  • Follow, administer, and implement all Wheaton Park District policies.
  • Follow, administer, and implement all Cosley Zoo animal handling and emergency protocols.

Salary:
$9 - $10 per hour

June 9-August 13, 2010
M-F 8:00am-4:30pm
